The Power of Everybody

What is "The Power of Everybody" all about?

"The Power of Everybody" is a spiritual journey that will lead us to a new and exciting chapter in the ministry of our church. On this journey we will be reminded of our mission as a church; why we exist. We will pray and seek God's direction for what each of us should do to help accomplish that mission. We will obey God and what he asks us to do. We will trust God to work in and through his people. "The Power of Everybody" is a wonderful opportunity for the people of CrossWay to come together in mission, prayer, obedience, and trust.


What is the significance of the title "The Power of Everybody?"

The "Everybody" is us. For maximum impact, it's going to take every one of us on our knees, united in purpose and wholly submitted to God. The "Power" is God. God will move in mighty ways through his people when they are united, prayerful, and submitted.

Isn't this just a fundraising campaign?

Not at all. Although we do hope to raise needed resources for property and construction, this is not a fundraising campaign. This is a stewardship campaign. And there is a big difference. Fundraising campaigns focus on money and how much of it can we raise.

Stewardship campaigns are different. Stewardship campaigns focus on God. We begin with an understanding that God owns everything, including our time, energy, and finances. We then focus on the mission to which God has called us. Next we pray and ask God what he would have us do to support that mission. Finally, we do whatever God asks us to do, trusting that if we do that, God will provide any resources we might need.

How will the money be utilized as a result of this campaign?

The money will be used to enable CrossWay to better accomplish her mission of helping people be changed by God and strengthened in Christian community for their mission in the world. Simply put, the money will be used to help us reach more people for Christ. That may include buying an unimproved piece of land and constructing a building which better enables us to do that. It may include buying an existing building and remodeling it to suit our purposes. It may involve some other strategy that God makes clear to us. The bottom line is that we need to provide more and better space for people to encounter God.

Why conduct the campaign since we have yet to find property?

Embarking on this journey now will help us to remember that this is not about property, bricks, and boards, but that it is about people. Also, moving forward with the campaign now will enable us to move more quickly on property once it is discovered, and in this area, the ability to move quickly on real estate is a plus. Finally, conducting the campaign now will enable us to make payments on the property, during construction, while we are still meeting in, and paying rent for, our current facilities.

By the way, what's wrong with our current facilities?

We've been in our current facilities since CrossWay's beginning in October of 1995. While they have served is well, we've reached a point with our facilities where they're hurting us more than helping us. Parking is not good and new people often don't know where to park. Housing our elementary school ministry across the street in another building is inconvenient and dangerous. Accessing our nursery/preschool wing is a bottleneck every Sunday. The lobby area is always crowded and sends a message that there is not enough room for more people. When a church reaches 80% capacity it stops growing. We are there. We are beyond what our facilities can consistently handle while enabling for growth.

Who can participate in the campaign?

This spiritual journey is inclusive. All friends of CrossWay are invited to join us.

Will new people be invited to join our journey?

Yes. The follow-up team will both update the church on the status of our campaign and explain the campaign to all those new to CrossWay during the three year giving period.
