Bob and Reva Ledbetter participated in CrossWay’s initial planting and felt connected from the very beginning. "Bob spent 24 years in the Air Force and each time we moved, we had to find a new church," they said. "Although each church we attended was very welcoming and quickly became a big part of our lives, the experience of being a part of a church where everybody was new has been quite a thrill. CrossWay has truly become our family and has been a huge support for us since all our relatives are so far away."
Both were involved in CrossWay’s first meeting on October 8th and in the first public service on October 15th, 1995. Bob and Reva served in the greeting ministry (First Impressions), and were involved in numerous Men’s and Women’s Ministries.
The Ledbetters share fond memories of the tremendous response CrossWay achieved at its first two services when approximately 500 people showed up. They were equally impressed by the initial and ongoing response to the new building campaign.
Impacted by several small groups over the years, Bob and Reva have forged lasting relationships. "Last year I attended the men’s retreat, Expedition of the Heart , conducted by four young men from CrossWay, and was blown away by their concept of a band- of-brothers," Bob shared. "As a result, I’ve pursued finding such a group, and fortunately, a band-of- brothers started meeting on Saturdays. I feel I’ve grown spiritually as a result of the Expedition of the Heart retreat and I pray that all men of CrossWay get a chance to experience this spiritual adventure."
The Ledbetters greet their friends with smiles and warm embraces. But, it’s not reserved only for those they know. When you walk through the doors of CrossWay for the very first time, you’ll be warmly greeted and feel the genuine welcome that the Ledbetters effortlessly give. Bob will ask your name and will make it a priority to remember it. Bob and Reva are caring people and their warmth flows from solid Christian values.
Bob and Reva are what exemplifies CrossWay. They receive by giving. CrossWay is a haven for those who wish to take leadership roles and become involved. Not everyone chooses to do so, but you need look no further than the Ledbetters to see the impact you can have on others through leadership.
While we have painted a vivd picture of these two youngsters, they would be the first to admit that they are a work in progress. But, they do believe that CrossWay was put in their path so they might have a Christian family to assist in that growth. For them, CrossWay is a community where they can learn to surrender their will and allow God to take control.
