CrossWay Facility Use Policy

It is our desire that church facilities be used to purposely build relationships with believers and non-believers, consistent with CrossWay's mission statement (To help people be changed by God and strengthened in Christian community for their mission to the world). The use of CrossWay's facilities for non-CrossWay sponsored functions will therefore be allowed under the following guidelines:

  1. A person active in the ministry of CrossWay must be involved in the activity, and will be present during the activity. One exception to this is the use of CrossWay facilities by adjacent businesses. In this case, someone from CrossWay will be on the premises while the facility is being used, even though they may not be participating directly in the activity.
  2. Any activity taking place in CrossWay facilities must not be in conflict with Biblical norms and the culture of CrossWay. For example, activities involving profanity, crude humor, sexually explicit dialogue or actions, anti-Christian content, political events, etc. will not be allowed.
  3. CrossWay sponsored activities will always take precedence over non-sponsored activities in terms of facility use. Non-sponsored events may lose access to the facility. Every attempt will be made to give notice to such loss of use at least one month prior to the scheduled event. However, we reserve the right to override that schedule in an emergency.

Note that these guidelines may not cover all possible facility use situations. CrossWay's leadership retains the final interpretation of whether an activity meets the above guidelines and is consistent with the mission of CrossWay.

Procedure for Obtaining Approval for Facility Use:

  1. The person from CrossWay requesting the use of the facility will complete a facility use application This will open in a new window, and submit it to the CrossWay receptionist.
  2. If CrossWay leadership approves the use of the facility:
    1. The receptionist will verify that the facility is available at the requested time.
    2. The receptionist will notify the contact person that the request has been approved.
    3. If the activity is cancelled, the contact person will notify the receptionist.
  3. If CrossWay leadership does not approve the use of the facility, a member of leadership will discuss the non-approval with the contact person.

During Facility Use:

  1. The contact person will be responsible for management of the room/area use.
  2. Noise levels and activities must be appropriate for the room/area used, and must not adversely affect other groups using the facilities.
  3. The room/area used is to be returned to the original condition and furniture arrangement. This may require cleaning, vacuuming, emptying trash, moving tables and chairs, etc.
  4. The access code to the back door of the Worship Center will be disclosed to the contact person only. The contact person should use discretion in sharing this information with one or two other adult leaders in the group. The code is to be kept confidential. If access is needed through other doors, the contact person is responsible for unlocking & re-locking those doors.
